ABSTRACT
The energetic consumptions presented by the vitrocultures illumination using conventional sources, and also the one which is registered to the growth rooms cooling system, are very significant and lead to a higher production cost. In the last period, the vitrocultures “high brightness” LED illumination, began to ask for researcher’s attention, because of its low energy consumption and insignificant thermic emission.
In this experiment we have studied the reactions of two Sequoia sempervirens vitrocultures, which was exposed one to fluorescent light, and other to white LED light. The results were surprising, because the monitored parameters, to both experimental variants, have presented very close values, their differences being absolutely insignificant in the statistic view point. These results encourage using, for this culture type, of Light Emitted Diodes as illumination source.
