ABSTRACT
Danube hydrographical area lies on the major Central and South-East European depression, surrounded by Hercynian massifs on a side, and Alpine-Dinaric-Carpathian and Balkan massifs on the other side. To these once depression flows all Danube affluents.
In the present paper we taking into account the lower Danube course in the pontic-oriental sector. In order to characterize the nutrients values in the research areas, in 2005 year, we took samples and we determined the nitrogen, nitrates, nitrites and total phosphorus.
According to these parameters, in terms of mg N/l, we fit the Danube waters, using the standard values, in first and second category of quality on the studied sector.
