Past and Present:

1959 - The 3-Year Pedagogical Institute was established alongside the Faculties of Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry, Philology and Natural Sciences;
1966 - The Faculty of Chemistry was set up upon the foundation of the University of Craiova
1974 - The Faculty of Natural Sciences was founded through the merging of the Faculties of Mathematics and Faculty of Chemistry, subsequently labelled the Faculty of Sciences in 1990;
1999 - The University Senate decided to reorganize the specialisations of the Faculty of Sciences, setting up the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Physics.
